At St. Francis Xavier Primary School our Visual Arts curriculum offers students from Foundation through to Year Six opportunities to immerse in a variety of art forms, inspiring creative action, aesthetic pleasure and emotional response.
There is a particular focus on the arts elements, principles and conventions, skills and techniques. Students explore and respond to their own art and the artwork of others.
Our Visual Arts curriculum is ‘underpinned by a belief that “We are all artists”. We pride ourselves on equipping our students with the skills, interest, enthusiasm and confidence to say, “I can do that!”, when faced with a creative challenge. Through our Visual Arts program explicit teaching of the process of working through an artwork, as well as the skills and techniques needed to complete the task, help to boost student’s artistic confidence.
The program takes advantage of the unique grounds of the school and the surrounding landscape, and where applicable, complements the classroom learnings.
