The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a central and fundamental responsibility of St Francis Xavier Primary School.
Our school has a focus on child safety and to fulfil the legislative requirements within the state of Victoria, including the specific requirements of the Victorian Child Safe Standards as set out in Ministerial Order No 1359. DOBCEL, as governing authority, and the Principal have direct responsibility for ensuring that the requirements of MO (Ministerial Order) No 1359 are met within the school.
The Catholic Education Commission Victoria is committed to strengthen the practice for the protection of children in line with the Victorian Government Child Safety reforms. Our Child Safe Policies are available by clicking on the links below.
Preventing and responding to child abuse and keeping children safe requires a community response to bring about broad cultural change so Child Safety is everyone’s responsibility. The Victorian Child Safe Standards apply to a broad range of organisations that provide services for children, including schools, churches, sporting clubs and youth services.
Whilst St Francis Xavier Primary School is compliant with the Child Safety requirements Child Safety is an ongoing commitment and our school will continually monitor, review and evaluate our policies and practices to maintain the requirements in regard to awareness, understanding and organisational preventative measures to ensure the safety of the students at St Francis Xavier Primary School.
Our staff are committed to understanding and accepting the associated policies and Code of Conduct which gives clarity and clear direction for Child Safety.
The commitment of our Child Safety Policy is drawn from and inherent in the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ, with love, justice and the sanctity of each human person at the heart of the gospel.
